The Cabinet has approved USD 350 million (approximately KSh45 billion) in shareholder financing for Kenya Airways to address urgent financial obligations, maintain its fleet and return grounded aircraft to service.
The funds will be disbursed in phases under National Treasury oversight, with repayment extending up to 10 years and the possibility of conversion into equity, subject to approval.
In a statement issued after Friday’s Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi, the government said the financing forms part of its broader strategy to support the national carrier’s long-term turnaround.
